Please tell us about your pet, especially if you adopted from us!

Message From: D. January 4, 2010
Just wanted to give you an update on Sissy who I adopted in October 2009. She is really sweet and gets along great with my other dog Hunter. She was once very sick with an U.R.I. and infected Hunter but both are fine now and very healthy. She is wonderful - I really love her and try not to pamper her but it's hard not to because she is so sweet and loyal. Thanks for helping me get Sissy. I'll be forever grateful. She is a positive joy in my life as well as Hunter's life. Hunter was missing his other companion, Meggie and was very depressed. He is a new dog now since Sissy came to us. Bless you all. Continue your good work.

We adopted "Divinity" now "Lizzy" a couple months ago. Can't imagine life without this sweet, sweet soul. She adores her family and her "packmates" and endures the cat. Can't thank you guys enough for helping us find our last furbaby. She is being thoroughly pampered, petted and spoiled as she deserves.

I adopted "Buick", now known as Sadie. She just wasn't a Buick! hehe She is a Chocolate Lab mix we don't know what and THE most wonderful little girl anybody could ask for! After only two weeks in her new home, she is house trained, crate trained, and is doing oh so well with my 2 cats. She is and will continue to be a wonderful addition to my life. She's a smart girl and learns easily. She loves going for her walks, and took well to being on leash, she just doesn't like walking in the dark! Thank You Karen and all the work you do for these wonderful new best friends that you foster. I can't help but believe that you're work is in part the reason that Sadie has adjusted so well, and is such a happy puppy! A BIG THANKS TO YOU AND YOURS!

I adopted Tippy on June 29, 2008. She is a shar-pei mix. From what I understand, she has been a great mom and foster mom. I adopted Bishop, aka Sprinkle about 2 months ago. He is now almost 5 months and is 30 pounds. He is getting big quick! At first I was very nervous. I felt like a first time mom but Bishop is one of the best things that has happened to our family. He plays well with other dogs and listens to our commands. He is a BIG baby and can't do without his new mommy. He is extremely smart and learning very quickly. Karen was very nice and understanding and I am very lucky I found her! Again, thank you Lake County Animal Services for bringing Bishop into my life!

I adopted Katie off the website on December 10, 2007 and she has brought so much joy to my home. I just want to express how eternally grateful I am that Karen took a chance on me and that fact that Katie had to take such a far journey to her forever home but not a day goes by that she is not cherished and loved. She's an amazing addition to my family! And thanks again to Karen for being so understanding and helpful when I brought Katie home and was a nervous nellie those first few days of being a new mom. Thanks again Karen, you do great work!

We adopted Bart (formerly Ray) in June of 2006 after being turned down at the animal shelters because they refused to allow us to adopt a puppy with my youngest son being 2. Thankfully we found Lake County Animal Services and Karen! Bart had a rough start, he came down with Parvo within a week of bringing him home, but he made it through and is a WONDERFUL dog. He fit in with our 2 twelve year old dogs and though he likes to chase the cats, he doesn't do anything with them when he catches them. He follows the kids around everywhere and will fetch a ball until either you or he poops out! We just recently lost one of our older dogs and when we're ready to adopt again, we'll definitely look at LCAS first! Thanks a million!!!

I adopted Croon (now Huff) back in August 07. He was terrified on his adoption day & huffed & puffed the entire 6 hour drive back home, so we named him Huff. He was supposed to be sharpei & rott but he's clearly not rott. He's sharpei & I think Border Terrier. He's the coolest dog I've ever seen. People stop me in their cars & marvel at him. He's so energetic, loves people 7 loves dogs even more. Got a lot of spring in his step, is a lover not a fighter...basically a 56 lb mama's boy!!!

Just wanted to thank you for helping us find our newest family member. We got Boone ( formerly known as Gummo ) in December at 4 months of age. Karen recommended him based our needs and lifestyle (what a great fit ) .He came to us crate trained, potty trained, and a good listener. He's smart and we can tell he was well cared for when he was with Karen. Thank you again, I've been recommending your organization to anyone who wants to save a pet.

We adopted Mantra last August from Karen's shelter at 14 weeks of age. He arrived home to meet our 4 year old female and it was love at first sight. He has grown to be a hunky dog of 89 lbs.... and still growing.Very sweet, but quite shy with people he doesn't know and men...but great with all kids... sleeping at my feet at the moment under my computer desk. We couldn't love him more! Thank you Karen! Jennifer

We were lucky enough to find a Boxer X at the shelter that had been fostered by Karen. We have had many dogs all adopted, but in the short 3 months we have had her. She has been the best family dog we have had. When Karen had her she started potty training her (well she said she had just started) she was fully trained from the first day she arrived home. I have been told that Boxers are smart dogs but at 4 Mo. old she sits ,heels, shakes ,stays and runs along my son's side when he goes out for a run and she never leaves his side. I worked for another shelter for 11 Years and never thought I would find a shelter that cares so much about there animals and the homes they get. Our family wants to thank everyone at the shelter mainly Karen for all the work she did when she fostered the pups so they may be adopted.
