Please tell us about your pet, especially if you adopted from us!

Message From: Sheila T September 11, 2011
We adopted our dog today from this wonderful organization. We were so impressed with all the volunteers. Everyone was kind, and took their time with us. You can tell these folks care about animals, and also people. Charlie (aka Frankie) is such a sweet boy, and I'm happy to say he's already cuddling with our 14 year old cat. They love each other already. Thank you Lake County Animal Services. You're a great organization.

We adopted Chuck (aka Bruno) on July 8, 2011 and he is already a big influence on our family. Chuck is a one of a kind buddy and thank you to Karen at Lake County Animal Services for taking care of him until we could find him, also for the follow up making sure Chuck found a good home. Thank you!

This is late in coming, but couldn't do it sooner. I adopted Shiva (aka Tundra) several years ago. We connected immediately. Shiva had been in a bad place before coming to LCAS. Yet she trusted me. Ours was a quiet love with the occasional huff to get my attention. She stole my breath away every time I looked at her. She passed unexpectedly May 6, 2010 and broke my heart. There will never be another like her. I am deeply grateful to LCAS for saving her and allowing her to go home with me.

We adopted Ainnileas (renamed Ice) from Molly's litter AKA; The Irish litter, Ice is a very smart pup that has brought a lot of fun and joy to our home. Karen was very knowledgeable, and great to work with in our search for the right pup. When/if we search for another dog our first and only choice will be to purchase from Karen at Lake County Animal Services. She loves, cares for the animals and will go out of her way to help the new parents’ on any questions or provide advice as needed. Thank you for every thing, Karen!! PS: Ice said “Ruff”

Lake County has a special place in our hearts. Our beloved Cody, a Flat Coat - Chow mix, came to us from Lake County thru a rescue group many years ago. He waits for us now at Rainbow Bridge but his portrait is at Lafayette Pet Food Express - it also acknowledges Lake County animal advocates. We are so happy to see a loving caring organization like this step up to the responsibility of caring for the lives of these precious creatures. Bless you all!

We adopted "Ripple" (renamed "Lucy") in June of 09 as a 5 month old puppy. She has grown to be a beautiful pit lady with lovely lady-like, sweet disposition and is an indispensable member of our family. Thank you so much for the work that you do and for placing her with is. We love her!

Just wanted to give you an update on Sissy who I adopted in October 2009. She is really sweet and gets along great with my other dog Hunter. She was once very sick with an U.R.I. and infected Hunter but both are fine now and very healthy. She is wonderful - I really love her and try not to pamper her but it's hard not to because she is so sweet and loyal. Thanks for helping me get Sissy. I'll be forever grateful. She is a positive joy in my life as well as Hunter's life. Hunter was missing his other companion, Meggie and was very depressed. He is a new dog now since Sissy came to us. Bless you all. Continue your good work.

We adopted "Divinity" now "Lizzy" a couple months ago. Can't imagine life without this sweet, sweet soul. She adores her family and her "packmates" and endures the cat. Can't thank you guys enough for helping us find our last furbaby. She is being thoroughly pampered, petted and spoiled as she deserves.

I adopted "Buick", now known as Sadie. She just wasn't a Buick! hehe She is a Chocolate Lab mix we don't know what and THE most wonderful little girl anybody could ask for! After only two weeks in her new home, she is house trained, crate trained, and is doing oh so well with my 2 cats. She is and will continue to be a wonderful addition to my life. She's a smart girl and learns easily. She loves going for her walks, and took well to being on leash, she just doesn't like walking in the dark! Thank You Karen and all the work you do for these wonderful new best friends that you foster. I can't help but believe that you're work is in part the reason that Sadie has adjusted so well, and is such a happy puppy! A BIG THANKS TO YOU AND YOURS!

I adopted Bishop, aka Sprinkle about 2 months ago. He is now almost 5 months and is 30 pounds. He is getting big quick! At first I was very nervous. I felt like a first time mom but Bishop is one of the best things that has happened to our family. He plays well with other dogs and listens to our commands. He is a BIG baby and can't do without his new mommy. He is extremely smart and learning very quickly. Karen was very nice and understanding and I am very lucky I found her! Again, thank you Lake County Animal Services for bringing Bishop into my life!

I adopted Katie off the website on December 10, 2007 and she has brought so much joy to my home. I just want to express how eternally grateful I am that Karen took a chance on me and that fact that Katie had to take such a far journey to her forever home but not a day goes by that she is not cherished and loved. She's an amazing addition to my family! And thanks again to Karen for being so understanding and helpful when I brought Katie home and was a nervous nellie those first few days of being a new mom. Thanks again Karen, you do great work!

We adopted Bart (formerly Ray) in June of 2006 after being turned down at the animal shelters because they refused to allow us to adopt a puppy with my youngest son being 2. Thankfully we found Lake County Animal Services and Karen! Bart had a rough start, he came down with Parvo within a week of bringing him home, but he made it through and is a WONDERFUL dog. He fit in with our 2 twelve year old dogs and though he likes to chase the cats, he doesn't do anything with them when he catches them. He follows the kids around everywhere and will fetch a ball until either you or he poops out! We just recently lost one of our older dogs and when we're ready to adopt again, we'll definitely look at LCAS first! Thanks a million!!!
